I am officially a Gardyn Partner! 

I am so excited to work with Gardyn based in Bethesda, MD! As a nutritionist, I recognize the issues with our farming and industrial agricultural industry. As a result, I seek to empower individuals and families to regain their power and autonomy over the food they consume and the quality of those foods. 

My goal is to show Individuals and families seeking to improve their diets through the increase of whole and fresh foods, how to grow food and learn sustainability methods to promote overall health and longevity, bringing you along for my own journey growing foods in my home with my Gardyn system.

My History as a Gardener

I have been gardening since I was about six years old. When I lived in Cobb County, GA, I was fortunate enough to have a large half-acre backyard with a stream and plethora of wildlife. I spent a significant amount of time outside as a child and had a strong interest in nature. My parents took notice of my interest and helped me start an organic garden growing watermelon, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peas, and pumpkins during the Fall months. During my undergraduate program at George Mason University, I volunteered in the Presidents Park Greenhouse, as well as, Potomac Heights Organic Vegetable Garden. The staff at the PPG produce approximately 1,000 lbs. of fresh lettuce and salad greens annually that are served weekly right next door at Ike's dining hall, where I dined regularly and enjoyed the fruits of our labor from the produce and salad bar. The remaining herbs, fruits and veggies are donated to the community through the Produce Pick-Ups, where anyone can sign up to receive free produce, as supplies last. While I haven't resided on the campus of George Mason University since 2017, I have volunteered in the community gardens of Wards 7 & 8 of Washington, D.C., established by the non-profit organization Marthas Table and have been doing so since 2012 when they partnered with Broccoli City Festival, allowing festival attendees to earn their tickets through community service. Today, I continue to serve those communities with Martha's Table, giving my time in at their Joyful Food Markets. The markets provide access to healthy and nutritious food through monthly pop-up events at more than 50 elementary schools in Wards 7 and 8. Families can shop at no cost for high-quality produce and pantry staples. I also love to collect and grow house plants and buy fresh flowers, my favorite plant is my Monsterra and lilies and red roses are my favorite flowers.
